Flyleaf- All Around Me
We chose the song because we liked the song and its lyrics. During our initial discussions, after extensive research into bands styles, videos and songs decided that we wanted to do mystical fairytale themed music video. And we chose this style of video because we felt it suited the genre of music we were considering. We first wanted to do the song (One of those) Crazy Girl by Paramore, but couldn't because there is no existing music video to offer us any inspiration. After some more research we found a band that we felt was similar to Paramore, but also had its own unique sound and style. It was also important to us that the band had a female lead singer as we wanted a girl to be the main character in the video. We then settled on the song All Around Me as the lyrics of the song contain themes of love and vulnerability, which we wanted to include in our music video.
Our idea for our digipack is Alice and Wonderland themed, with photographic shots of various objects including playing cards, a jam tart, a bottle and a cats collar. The album is going to consist of both existing songs and 'new' songs and will be titled 'Take me to Wonderland'. The reason we chose this Alice and Wonderland theme is because we have kind of created a mash-up between Paramore and Flyleaf, by taking the mystical fairytale theme of Paramore's video for Brick by Boring Brick and applying the same thing to All Around Me. We specifically chose Alice in Wonderland is because we thought that we would be able to manipulate the themes and conventions associated with the film/book. Due to the fact that so many props and costumes are so distinctive to Alice in Wonderland, it will be obvious that this is the fairy tale we have chosen to emulate. Alice and Wonderland was also the most popular fairy tale from our audience research.
